Dear People of God in the Diocese of Maryland,

As our nation continues its troubled and hesitant course toward addressing issues of immigration, we have prepared a pastoral letter that can be used as a teaching document in our churches, to remind all of us of the biblical values and imperatives that should guide our treatment of newcomers and sojourners. About the Bishops' Annual Appeal

The true work of the Church comes when we work together as a community of parishes. The Bishops’ Annual Appeal is an annual fund raising campaign that helps fund parish and community-based ministries in our diocese. Through these efforts we are able to reach out to individuals and communities in need across the state. Many parishes in our diocese sponsor programs and ministries that address the social, educational and cultural needs of children and adults. The Bishops’ Annual Appeal provides additional resources for new and existing parish-based ministries. Some ministries are directly supported by the Appeal and some funds are distributed by the Diocesan Grants Committee to support new parish ministries.
